Tanner Rutledge is a mystery and thriller author with a sharp eye for detail and a knack for spinning tight, character-driven stories. Before turning to fiction as a profession, Tanner spent 15 years as a licensed private investigator, working everything from missing persons to high-stakes surveillance. He always kept a crime thriller or horror novel on his nightstand when he was out chasing leads. Books that kept him company during those long nights on the road and planted the seeds for the stories he writes today.
A lifelong storyteller, Tanner wrote short stories for his second-grade classmates and never stopped writing. He studied criminal justice in college while continuing to take creative writing and literature courses to hone his craft. When the world hit pause in 2020, Tanner used the opportunity to deepen his commitment to writing and sharpening his skills as a storyteller.
Tanner also hosts The Killer Prose Podcast, where he shares writing tips, explores the craft of storytelling, and dives into the darker corners of crime and horror fiction.
When he’s not crafting dark twists and tense investigations, Tanner enjoys spending time with his family and their little black cat, Broccoli.
